I did some quick keyword research and I think you could rank better for that by far using dog care as your main keyword phrase.

As for using .org, when I see it I always think it should be for non profits or government type sites. But I would not use .org at all because if you do a quick Google search for dog tips, there is a domain in use with a dash so anyone looking that would come up. I dunno, just thinking out loud.
